Elliot's Mama

I love Emily’s whimsical illustrations in all her books。 The story was very simple and not memorable, though。

Very cute homage to Little Fur Family by Margaret Wise Brown, but the font is a nightmare to read in low light at bedtime。

This is one of our family’s favorite picture books - it is whimsical and peaceful and the perfect bedtime story。 Features themes of togetherness, adventure, and the comforts and safety of home。 So glad it’s a part of childhood for my kiddos。

I've long admired Martin's artwork, and I'm happy to see it in any form。 There's an odd feel to this book, though, almost as if the story was written around the illustrations。 Nothing wrong with that, I suppose, when they end up looking like these。 I've long admired Martin's artwork, and I'm happy to see it in any form。 There's an odd feel to this book, though, almost as if the story was written around the illustrations。 Nothing wrong with that, I suppose, when they end up looking like these。 。。。more

I absolutely adored this, it was like Fantastic Mr。 Fox (the Wes Anderson film adaptation) and The Borrowers combined。Issues: why are these critters the sizes they are it doesn't make sense when they are juxtaposed, like birds seem to be their normal size and mice are close to their normal size but everything else seems randomly sized? Also wish it was longer and we could meet all these little characters。 Finally, the cursive font makes it a lot less accessible, especially as cursive seems to be I absolutely adored this, it was like Fantastic Mr。 Fox (the Wes Anderson film adaptation) and The Borrowers combined。Issues: why are these critters the sizes they are it doesn't make sense when they are juxtaposed, like birds seem to be their normal size and mice are close to their normal size but everything else seems randomly sized? I enjoyed the style of the illustrations。 The detail, zoom-in and out, the maze。 The word choice made me smile, “As they continued on their wander…”; “When are lost it is the best time to be found。” Great mentor text for word choice。 The text is in cursive which I find to be an interesting picture book font choice。

The Littlest Family's Big Day is a sentimental call back to the picture books of my childhood, with animals and fairies dressed in their most charming outfits doing things in the forest that they simply must do when no person is looking。 Scale and logic cast aside, The Littlest Family is a family of tiny bears who go on a journey from their new home to find that they have made friends of their neighbor gnomes, squirrels, raccoons, snails, mice, birds and more。 The last page opens to a big spread The Littlest Family's Big Day is a sentimental call back to the picture books of my childhood, with animals and fairies dressed in their most charming outfits doing things in the forest that they simply must do when no person is looking。 Scale and logic cast aside, The Littlest Family is a family of tiny bears who go on a journey from their new home to find that they have made friends of their neighbor gnomes, squirrels, raccoons, snails, mice, birds and more。 The last page opens to a big spread of a party I wish I could join, with a spider spelling out the word "Home" above their threshold in a loving nod to White's "Charlotte's Web"。My four year old enjoyed this short bedtime story as much as I did。 I would recommend the board book as I'm drawn to open and reopen the spread at the end over and over again。 So is the four year old - so we will definitely get more life out of this rugged publication than we would a hardbound book with paper pages! 。。。more

Pretty illustrations for a story about a family moving to a new neighbourhood。

This has a little bit of a Winnie-the-Pooh feel to the cadence of the writing。 And the illustrations, so detailed, lush and fun to explore。

Kellee Moye

BEAUTIFUL illustrations and a cute neighborhood adventure。

This has become a staple bedtime book and it is absolutely adored。 Especially the giant fish as they wander on the water。 Surely some plot holes, but 2 year olds do not give a shit about that。
